Empowering Leadership
The Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program, or MALLF Fellowship, is a paid five month program which offers Latino/a undergraduate and graduate students across Texas a unique opportunity to gain first-hand governmental experience by working in the Texas House of Representatives during a legislative session.
Through this program, fellows develop leadership and communication skills, gain access to valuable networking opportunities, and utilize resources to deepen their understanding of state government. Fellows of the Moreno/Rangel Program emerge with the skills and connections necessary to become the next generation of Texas’ Hispanic leaders.

The deadline to apply is October 18, 2024.
Leadership Development
Guiding students to become future leaders through education and experience.

Legislative Fellowship
Providing hands-on government experience to students in the Texas House of Representatives.

Political Engagement
Encouraging active participation of Latino/a youth in the political process.

Empowering young Latinos to become visionary leaders and active participants in shaping their communities and across the state.

Immerse in the Texas House of Representatives to gain real-world legislative experience and advocacy skills.

Leadership Development
Nurture leadership potential through mentorship, training, and networking opportunities for aspiring Latino/a leaders.

The eligibility requirements to apply are as follows:
- Must be an undergraduate, having completed at least 60 hours, in a two or four-yearaccredited institution, OR
- Graduate student enrolled in an accredited institution, OR
- A recent graduate, AND
- 21 years of age or older (as of January 14, 2025),
- Must have a minimum grade point (GPA) average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.

A complete application includes the following:

❏ Personal Statement (500 words or less) outlining your family, work, educational, and community experiences that have influenced your decision to apply for the Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program. In your statement, explain how these experiences align with your long-term personal goals and describe how participating in this legislative program will enhance your future leadership within the Latino community.
❏ Resume listing education, honors, extracurricular activities, community involvement, employment history and special skills
❏ Two Recommendation Letters from individuals other than family and friends (may be sent separately but must be received by October 18, 2024)
❏ Writing Sample (500 words or less) can be a press release, op-ed, school paper article, etc.
❏ Mailed Academic Transcript from current or most recent attended institutions (may be sent separately but must be postmarked by October 18, 2024)
